Week 22: The Advisor

The past few weeks, I've had multiple reasons to seek the advice of a trusted colleague. She has been absolutely terrific in helping me think through situations and come up with action plans that make sense.

This particular woman is someone whom I rely on regularly. She is a good listener and sounding board. She doesn't solve my problems for me...instead, she helps me frame and understand the situation and come to an appropriate conclusion on my own.

Recently, I had a particularly sticky issue and -- despite years of management experience -- I wasn't sure of the best way to address it. My colleague asked smart questions and challenged my assumptions, which helped me realize what I needed to do.

Thank you to my advisor/counselor, for helping me think, act, and generally be better.
