Why Commit to Thanks?
People talk about all the negativity in the world. They say they want to do something to make the world a better place...but do they? Do I?
In November, 2018, I made a personal commitment to put more good energy in the world by sending a hand written thank you note every week to someone I appreciate -- a loved one, friend, colleague, or even a stranger.
For the first three years, I sent roughly one note a week, and in some cases many more (such as when I was thanking a group of people).
Since then, it's been more sporadic. Whenever I take the time to send a written thank you I feel good - about the person I'm thanking, about myself, and about the world in general.
I know the people who receive my notes appreciate it. Some say it's sparked them to write more letters and express thanks more frequently.
To you, my blog readers, THANK YOU for reading this. I hope reading all these examples of appreciation is a reminder of all the positivity around us.
