2023 Note 2: The Counselor

I've been working full-time since 1985, and I've seen a lot over the years. Despite all that experience, I still encounter new situations where I could really use some advice.

Knowing whom to trust when you need help -- especially with a sensitive employee situation -- can be a challenge. This is particularly tricky when you're at a new company and haven't yet learned who operates with discretion and also who gives good advice.

Lucky for me, I encountered someone who turned out to be both: discrete and a good advisor. I grew to rely on this person to listen, consider all the facts and the nuances of each situation, and help me figure out the best course of action.

I feel extremely grateful for her counsel and that she was always available when I needed her help.
