Week 17: The Chart Maker

Last week, I had to deliver a short presentation to a group of sister companies. The purpose was to share information about what my company does, to foster collaboration across our teams.

Each presenter was allotted 10 minutes. That's not a lot of time to introduce yourself and your team and to explain what your company does. Sometimes it's harder to be brief than to be...detailed.

That's when our marketing person came to my aid. We worked together to make a short, clear story with visuals that helped make my points clearly.

My presentation clocked in at 8 minutes, 42 seconds. Afterwards, someone said it was the clearest, most easily understood explanation she's heard about exactly what the company does.

Thanks to my colleague who understood the vision and worked side by side with me to create the charts and give feedback as I rehearsed, the meeting went great. If I hit it out of the park, she was my batting coach, for sure!
