2022 Note 7: The Birthday Experience

Oh my gosh, what a great birthday I had this year!! One of my college roommates who lives far away came to the US and took me on a weekend to celebrate our shared birthday month.

She is so generous -- not only did she cover the hotel, she bought us both a day of pampering at a very indulgent spa. We had massages and facials and some kind of body scrub thing...I felt like a happy, limp noodle when we were done. Ooh, and I looked younger after the facial, which was an unexpected surprise. (I only had a facial once before and it was about 30 years ago.)

But the best part by far was our time together. We talked about anything and everything. We walked and explored. We celebrated with good food and even better wine. There's something extra special about friends who've been in your life for so many years. This particular friend is smart, interesting, phenomenally generous and one of the best story tellers ever.
