2020: Note 52 - My Dad (in memoriam)

I had a fantastic dad. He was alive until my 50th birthday in 2013, and we had a great relationship. My dad was my sounding board and had great advice about business and relationships.

He was funny, smart, caring and pragmatic. One of the things I admired most about him was the way he learned and grew throughout his life. He was very open to hearing about and being exposed to new things, changing his point of view as he learned more.

There are so many things that I know about or do now because of my dad. He was a great problem solver, and he taught me how to think, to have perspective, and to treat everyone with respect.

I often think about what my dad would advise...and I can only imagine what he would have to say about the state of the world right now. I'm so glad we had 50 years together - laughing, talking (ok, sometimes arguing), and enjoying each other's company.

As we come to the end of the year and I think about continuing this blog in 2021, I know my dad would be glad that I have been doing this for over two years. His only question would be, "What took you so long to thank your dear old dad? Am I seriously thank you note number one hundred and thirty-three?" Then he would make a funny joke or a groan-worthy pun and we would crack up together.

Thanks, Dad!!!
