2020: Note 32 - Friends of Mom

Covid...ugh...what a messed up year this has been. If you've read my post April 2020 Part 1, you know that my mom came to live with us for a few months when nobody was sure what was or wasn't safe. We were afraid that she might get stuck in her apartment, possibly sick, and us not able to help her.

As we learned more about the virus, we agreed that my mom would be safe back in her apartment. But now, to keep her (and us) safe, we only meet outside. As the weather turns colder, this becomes more challenging. At a minimum it means visits are shorter than if we were indoors.

My mom is a very sociable person and she likes to spend time with her friends. Again, this is tough in the current environment. Fortunately, a wonderful couple recently moved into her building (the woman is actually my mom's cousin). They are funny, smart, knowledgeable about what's going on in the world and also caring and kind. The three of them, with a few other people from the building, have formed their own Covid "bubble".

I am so grateful that my mom has these good friends to spend time with. They have fun together and watch out for one another. I cannot imagine what it would be like for my mom without these people in her lives.

Oh and PS: that is NOT a picture of my mom. I don't put anyone's name or personal photo in my blog. That said, my mom is just as beautiful -- and stylish -- as the woman in the picture!
