One of my colleagues has become a reliable source of advice. Our professional relationship started with her as my Human Resources (HR) partner, where we primarily focused on people issues and rolling out HR policies such as required compliance training or annual performance reviews.

Over the years, our relationship blossomed into something more, and I have become reliant on her as an objective and caring advisor.

She is someone I can count on to make time for me, to listen to whatever concern or question I have, and to provide suggestions that make the outcome better than it would have been without her advice.

It's wonderful to have a relationship that evolves into something new and more valuable over time. And - like other friends and colleagues I've mentioned - she has moved across the country so our contact is all via phone and video. I'm glad we met in person years ago and were able to build a foundation that can withstand the distance and our changing roles at the company.
