2020: Note 29 - My Uplifting Friend

Many of my friends live far away. At this point in my life, I think more of them are far-flung than or local. Maintaining friendships over miles and years can be a challenge, but it's important so we make it work.

One of my far away friends is also one of the most cheerful, uplifting people I know. She always has a smile on her face (I can hear it in her voice over the phone). Sometimes when I call she will sing Tomorrow from "Annie". You know the one -- "The Sun Will Come Out, Tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there'll be sun."

That kind of positive attitude is a special trait in a friend, and one I greatly appreciate, especially this year, which has been a doozy.

This friend is not just a human happy pill. She is smart and accomplished and gives good advice too. She's also someone who would travel from wherever she is if a friend was in need. She's the whole package when it comes to friendship, and I'm so lucky our paths crossed years ago and we've kept the friendship alive.
