Week 24: The Hygienist

I love my dental hygienist.

She is good at her job -- gentle and thorough. Each time I come in for a cleaning, she is well prepared and up to date on my chart. She remembers what was discussed at my last appointment and anything we're planning on for the longer term to keep my mouth and teeth healthy.

Besides the fact that she takes good care of me, she remembers things about me and my family, as well as little details such as the kind of toothpaste I prefer.

Whenever I come in for a cleaning, we turn of the TV and chat. One thing I really appreciate is that she doesn't ask me questions when I can't talk. That drives me bonkers, when the dentist or hygienist asks, "What's new?" while your mouth is full of instruments and all you can do is mumble. Somehow she times things so that when it's my turn to say something, I can actually answer her.

This week my thank you note goes to the dental hygienist who does a great job and makes the experience of going in for cleanings a pleasant one.
