I love my local library. It's a small branch, but they have a lot of things that make it feel like a bigger one. The people who work there -- staff and volunteers -- are very knowledgeable and helpful. The wifi is reliable. There is even a "quiet room" where adults can read or work without disruption.
One of the best features is that you can search for and reserve items from anywhere in the entire county's library system. Whenever I read a good book review or have a book recommendation, I put my name on the waiting list and the library texts me when it's ready. I use that service regularly, so that I always have a book on CD to listen to on my commute and have a couple of options to read at home as well.
Last year, they conducted a survey about features that are important to the community and they are making plans based on our input. They care about the library and the people who go there, and they want even more people to benefit from it.
I imagine that some of their work is very interesting, but it can also be lonely (and very quiet) sitting at the library desk. I'm way too extroverted to enjoy a job like that, which makes me all the more appreciative of the people who work there.
Thank you to the community library staff!
